Custom QuitNow Workshops

The QuitNow Outreach Team provides short, tailored trainings to health care providers on a specific topic of interest including nicotine addiction, nicotine replacement therapy, cessation strategies, behavioural support and more. These training sessions are 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Addiction Care and Treatment Online Course

The Addiction Care and Treatment Online Course (ACTOC) is a 22-module online course for healthcare providers to diagnose and treat substance use disorders with evidence-based treatments. Upon completion, learners can receive up to 20 Mainpro+/MOC Section 3 credits and 5 CNA credits for Addiction Care and Treatment and Substance Use and Addiction Nursing Certificate, respectively.

CAMH TEACH

The Training Enhancement in Applied Counselling and Health (TEACH) Project is Canada’s benchmark tobacco cessation education program. TEACH provides continuing education and capacity-building focused on training healthcare providers to support their patients/clients with tobacco addiction and cessation, and address e-cigarette use/vaping.  

Note that the TEACH certificate program was retired in June 2022 but interested participants may still enroll in individual courses.

Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario: E-learning

RNAO offers two free courses intended to support nurses and other health care professionals in providing tobacco interventions with clients. Courses offered include a foundational module and a course focused on youth and young adults.

CAMH Fundamentals of Tobacco Interventions

The Fundamentals of Tobacco Interventions (FTI) is a condensed self-study course, adapted from the TEACH Certificate Program course, An Interprofessional Comprehensive Course on Treating Tobacco Use Disorder. The course is organized into three modules: The Tobacco Epidemic, Clinical Interventions, and Implementation. 

Note that Module 3: Implementation is only applicable to those working in Ontario.

This World Health Organization e-Learning course is available free of charge to providers worldwide. Training contents: 

  • Module 1: The role of primary care providers in tobacco control and tobacco dependence treatment
